[COMPLETE] Authentication Server Issues: September 9 @ 7:00 PM PDT (UTC-7)

We're aware that an issue with the authentication server is preventing players from accessing the game. Our engineers have been looking into this issue, originally limited to a few servers and occurring at off hours. It is now a priority fix and we're actively investigating the cause.

Thanks for your reports of the authentication issue - while it's Sunday evening here in Irvine, the team is discussing what's involved in preventing it from reoccurring

  • I don't care if it is Sunday. This is YOUR company. You have to work to succeed. Stop being lazy socialists and get your company in order. This isn't a new issue, its one that has been ongoing. I realize you Californians LOVE socialism, but we are a capitalist nation. You will not succeed without hard work. Bernie Sanders isn't going to come subsidize your venture.
  • I won't be as rude or blunt as Kirutian, but his sentiment is generally shared among a lot of players judging by the STEAM reviews. Yes this is an early access game but its one that you've heavily promoted and have accepted money for. You have an obligation and right now it seems like you guys are really slacking. I think many hecklers would stop if you guys engaged with the community more like you guys were prior to early release.
  • soo... I guess ill just buy a game to play with my Sunday night.

I think you guys are expecting too much from these devs. I don't understand why it is taking so fucking long to nerf stags, but for $30 I've definitely already got my moneys worth.
  • are you kidding Scapes sluffs this off like it was a small problem and has only been happening off hours on a couple servers. Anyone following this forum knows that for 2 weeks now so many people have complained about this. I havent been able to log in for over 3 hours. And ive tryed everything to get back in
  • I have to agree with some others here. This isn't exactly a new problem. Nor is it something that only effects a few servers or at off hours. But if its being something that is being addressed as a "small hiccup" , or a new problem, or at off hours, and only effecting a few hours, I fear the problem will not be properly addressed as you guys are not even seeing the whole scope of the problem. This seems to happen at all times of the day, and then effects all servers, ot just a few, and both official and unofficial servers at that.
But like others mentioned, this should have been given priority status a while ago. I dont know about others, but for me, it makes me not even want to play no more. It is a game killer. Especially if it happens during a important time like a reckoning that we all look forward too. So far this has happened during a few critical times for me.
I don't want to come off as complaining, but I am concerned that if you guys are looking at this as a minor issue and not see what is really happening. It's like looking for a problem in the wrong location and throwing a bandaid on it.

This is what what concerns me as well. It's indication that one of two things is weak in your development process. 1) your quality team, or 2) your product managers. There are at least 2 weeks of reports, and if someone has not investigated an issue gating players from accessing the game until now it really shows a poor lack of prioritization. Makes me as a player uneasy on investing much time into a game ran by a company that lacks the foresight to file a critical or major bug for authentication issues reported weeks ago. Issues like this have an SLA on being triaged, and if someone looked into this already and didn't see that it had the possibility to bring down all the servers for 3 hours they should be reprimanded. If someone didn't file a bug for this last week or before, they should be reprimanded. Honestly for a company that claims to listen to it's player base how was this missed with several forum posts that only had a response from Scopes blaming a steam hiccup, for something the has continued to happen since then.

Whose miss was this, and will it continue to be a problem?

Look at your reviews, you are tending in a negative direction, several of which have communicated negative reviews due to crashes, or gating issues that you ignore. I'd suggest hiring a Quality manager worth their salt before it ruins your game.
  • We've determined the cause of the authentication issue and are deploying the server-side patch that fixes it now. All servers will be restarting in about 15 minutes, after which they should be accessible again.

    Thanks again for your patience!
  • Good to hear you are working on [email protected] I didnt had this issue until today. Keep up the good work!
  • We are still experiencing this issue on a private p-word protected server (BansheeRiders). Please fix it. We're off work and want to play! Thank you!

Be sure that your private server has updated to the latest version of Rend as this should resolve the error.
